How Dispensed works
Dispensed is vending as a service. You order a machine sized to your product, put it somewhere, and run it from one web app. Your customers pay on their own phone.
See how Dispensed compares to a traditional vending machine.
1. Order a machine
Open the configurator.
- Set height, width and depth from 20 to 50 cm, and pick a colour.
- Pay online, or request a call back.
- You get a machine that fits your product exactly, ready to load.
- Connect it to power and use your phone to connect it to WiFi.
2. Remote vendor management
Go to admin login.
- Use your email to log in with a one-time code.
- Each admin needs access to that same email address to receive the code.
- Staff who only restock don't need it: they log in with the store's restock link or QR code, found on the store's page.

3. Set up dispensers and stores
A dispenser is one machine selling one product. A store groups dispensers in one place, with one QR code for customers.
- Add each dispenser at Dispensers with the ID and password printed on it.
- Set up its product: name, price, product photo and stock count.
- Create a store at Stores and add your dispensers to it.
- Print the store QR code and put it next to the machines.
Edit a dispenser to change its product, price, photo or stock count. Turn on testing to take payments in a payment sandbox while you set up.
4. How customers buy
- The customer scans the store QR code, or the QR code on a single dispenser.
- The store page lists each product with its price and stock.
- They tap Buy and pay through a Square checkout on their phone.
- The machine dispenses within a few seconds.
The machine needs no card reader, coin slot or screen.
If a machine is out of stock or offline, the customer sees a "machine down" page instead of a checkout, and you get an email.
5. Restock
Each store has a restock link. Find it on the store's page in the admin app.
- Anyone with the link can update stock counts, so staff don't need an admin login.
- If the link gets shared too widely, click Regenerate to create a new one.
6. Machine status
See at a glance which machines are selling and which need attention. Each machine checks in with the server every few seconds over WiFi.
- Dispensers shows how long ago each machine last checked in.
- A machine that hasn't checked in for 10 seconds counts as offline.
- The first time a machine connects, it opens a WiFi setup portal so you can join it to your network.
Fees
- Machines start at $250 AUD + GST.
- Dispensed charges 5% (excl. GST) of each sale. On a $10 sale that's $0.50 + $0.05 GST, and $9.45 is credited to your account.
- There's no monthly fee and no card reader to rent.
- Each month you get a tax invoice for the fees, listing every sale.
